Here is more information about the Marsden String Day on Sunday April 6th 2025.
Venue: North of England Centre for Music & Arts, Waters Road, Marsden HD7 6NQ. Parking is available.
(see the North of England Centre for Music & Arts website)
Timings: The event will run from 10.30am to around 4.30pm with breaks for coffee/tea and lunch.
Food and drink: Tea/coffee/biscuits will be supplied. For lunch, either bring something of your own, or visit Marsden village (just under 1 mile away).
How to sign up: Please contact Nick re availability, as places are limited. Players should have orchestral experience and be grade 8+ standard. If you are a violin player, please say whether you would like/expect to play 1st or 2nd violin.
The day costs £20 (£10 for under-19s). Tickets are available here (adult ticket / under-19 ticket) – or you can pay on arrival, either cash or card.
Works to be studied: Dvorak – Serenade. You can download the music (below) – though paper copies will be supplied on the day. We will also have a look at “Adoration” by Florence Price.
Louise Latham will conduct, and there will be a workshop atmosphere leading to a low-key play-through at the end. If you don’t know Louise, you should know that she is a great leader and facilitator for string players. With many years of professional playing and teaching experience, she has the knack of getting the very best out of any group of string players!
Please bring a music stand.
