Marsden String Day

Here is more information about the Marsden String Day on Sunday April 14th 2024. Contact Nick if you want to be added to the list of players.

Venue: Marsden Mechanics Hall, Peel Street, Marsden, Huddersfield HD7 6BW

Timings: The event will run from 10.30am to around 4.30pm with breaks for coffee/tea and lunch.

Food and drink: Tea/coffee/biscuits will be supplied. There are plenty of places around Marsden for people to get lunch, or you may prefer to bring something of your own and eat it in the hall, where we have use of the kitchen.

Cost: £20

Works to be studied: Elgar: Introduction and Allegro / Hindemith: Five pieces for String Orchestra (Fünf Stücke, Op. 44 nr. 4). You can download the music (below) – though paper copies will be supplied on the day.

Louise Latham will conduct, and there will be a workshop atmosphere leading to a low-key play-through at the end. If you don’t know Louise, you should know that she is a great leader and facilitator for string players. With many years of professional playing and teaching experience, she has the knack of getting the very best out of any group of string players!
